 ...Hit From Behind...

…Hit From Behind…

$1.11

…hit from behind… is a captivating story of how a seemingly innocent fishing trip turns into disaster. During a hot summer evening Jim and his son biked home from a fishing trip when a car hit Jim, almost costing his life. Near death, Jim describes the black room. This book is not simply about the accident; it delves deeper into what it means to have a relationship with God. “It’s not a matter of if we get hit from behind, it’s a matter of when.” All of us get ‘hit’ sooner or later. How do you handle the loss of control over your life? This short story is about you. If you’re not a Christian, it will stir thinking about God. If you are a Christian, it will stir thinking of the difference between giving your heart to Christ and giving your life to Him.Jim Heckel lives with his wife, Beth, in Loveland, Colorado. … hit from behind… is his first book. He has a long list of published papers and articles on topics, his specialty which is leadership. He has a son, Nathan, and a daughter, Aimee. While recovering from a near-fatal car-versus-bicycle accident, his daughter encouraged him to “write, write, write.” Heckel’s rehab afforded him time to reflect, pray and listen to her encouragement. He put on paper what he was processing internally.Heckel is an outdoors person and spends his free time fly-fishing, backpacking and hiking – and he’s back on the bicycle. He’s an active member of his church, works for a high-tech corporation and plays the drums when he’s happy. Heckel is passionate about humanitarian aid, serving as secretary for Think Humanity (thinkhumanity.org). His nickname is Frog. No one knows why, but he’s OK with that.

 100 First Pages

100 First Pages

$14.52

This book is called 100 First Pages because that’s what it is. Each page in the book is ‘supposed’ to be the first page of a novel. Next to that page, on the left, are my comments about how the novel might go, along with some of my personal thoughts on the ‘subject’. That’s the best part, because it is a mini-encyclopedia, almanac, journal and, to some extent, a blog. The book covers a large array of topics and genres. When you buy the book and read it, you can go to my website listed in the back and vote for your favorite BEGINNING. You can also suggest a title for the book. I promise that I will write the novel which receives the most votes for publication AND if you are the person who suggests the Best Title, i.e. the one I will use, you will get a cover credit, an entire page inside to write anything you like and one dollar for every copy sold! Check out the preview and give it a try.

 100 Ways to Save $100

100 Ways to Save $100

$16.94

Saving should become a family affair. If one member doesn’t participate, the whole concept becomes virtually useless. Children are limited in their knowledge about finances. They probably know more about the facts of life than they do about money. The best way to begin is to have a family meeting and ask members which items they can contribute to. This book contains 100 different ideas to obtain a hundred dollars or more in savings. These are not the only ideas for saving money. There are many more that you or your children may think of. What one should do is make a list of his or her own that can be added to the list provided. The main thing is to write these ideas down. Keep tabs of the savings so you know which ones work. Remember, saving is a family affair.

 1975...

The true millennium. I began this book four years ago. It began as a way of helping me heal from my first real heartbreak. Writing had always been my outlet for personal thoughts and expressions of love. Being very shy, this came in handy. When I began writing this book, it began as a simple book of love notes aimed at those who found themselves in the same position as myself; hoping that at least one love lost individual would be able to relate. At the time, this was all I wanted. Once I felt that I had poured enough of my pain into the pages I laid down my pen. There was nothing more for me to write, so I thought. After a while, I began to notice that my situation hadn’t changed, I was still moving from job to job. With only an 11th grade education there wasn’t really much I could do except to go back to school but that had been years ago. I really felt that I was better off teaching myself. I would look for things to write about, digest them, analyze them and put them in my own words, how I saw them and what I felt. This is when it began to take shape far beyond just words of heartache. I could see things that no one else saw!

Excerpt: Amelia Dyer Amelia Elizabeth Dyer (1829 June 10, 1896) achieved notoriety as probably the most prolific baby-farm murderer of Victorian England . She was tried and hanged for one murder, but there is little doubt she was responsible for many more similar deaths over a period of perhaps twenty years. Background Unlike many of her generation, Amelia Dyer was not the product of grinding poverty . She was born in a small village near Bristol , the daughter of a master shoemaker . She learned to read and write and developed a love of literature and poetry. However, her somewhat privileged childhood was marred by the eventual illness of her mother who developed typhus . Dyer apparently witnessed her mother’s violent fits and was obliged to care for her until she died. Researchers would later comment on the effect this had on Dyer, and also what it would teach Dyer about the signs exhibited by those who appear to lose their mind through illness. Later, she trained as a nurse , a somewhat gruelling job in Victorian times, but it was seen

After thinking about the possible contents for the book over several weeks, Donald Mitchell was surprised to be awakened at 1:30 a.m. on May 19, 2009, by a voice that dictated to him in great detail what should be in this book. This dictation continued for many hours and finally paused for him to begin asking clarifying questions, which were then answered. The instruction lasted over six hours. In the Introduction, Mitchell notes, “From that experience, I believe that by writing this book I am merely serving as a fleshly vehicle for a message from the Holy Spirit that is intended for all people on Earth. I pray that I have been faithful and accurate in sharing with you what I was directed to write.” 2,000 Percent Living presents fourteen Godly lessons that you can apply to accomplish at least 20 times more in every aspect of your life, while using less time, effort, and resources.
