I want to start a audio book business. How can I track down the authors and pay them author’s fees?
I want to start an audio book business in my country. I want to Publish world-wide known Books not those in my language. Do I have to and how can I track down the authors of the books I want to publish so that I can pay them author’s fees?
you would have to start with the Publishing Company of each book. – that is going to be expensive if you have to translate the books, then record them in your language. I don;t think even the bestsellers sell enough copies to make much money and your costs will be a lot higher unless you can guarantee you can sell probably 5000 copies of each audiobook -you have to pay to get each book translated, then recorded by someone with a really good speaking voice, them do artwork and packaging and cdrom production, then you have to find places to sell them either wholesale or retail – then you have to pay royalties ofr each sale and maybe some money in advance just to get the right to do an audiobook version
what if you spend all that money on a book that no one cares about and you sell zero copies?
you better do a lot of research to see if there is even any market for such stuff
