The Dark Knight Halloween costume is also known as the Batsuit. Batman’s cape and cowl have been transformed over the years into a full-fledged assault armor suit that consists of many parts. After rolling one end to a point, go ahead and put a layer of tape down to hold the edges tight. You now have a perfect cone to fill out the Batman hood’s horns. If they’re too long, you can trim down the tubing until it fits appropriately. For greatly exaggerated Batman horns, using full-size paper towel tubing will be well suited.
When it comes to Batman’s body armor, it’s recommended that children wear soft, dark color cloth, preferably cotton because it breathes well and the child won’t sweat while trick-or-treating. Teenagers and adults will find plastic and Kevlar-simulated Dark Knight costumes in their local costume stores and for purchase online.
Don’t forget the Dark Knight’s boots and gauntlets, or gloves. The boots can be standard issue black shoes that blend well into unitard leggings, or the costume wearer can seek out knee-high military style boots if the budget allows. For gauntlets, consider a stylized long-sleeved shirt, but our highest recommendation is to customize soccer shin pads and wear them on the forearms. This allows children to get a real feeling for wearing armored gauntlets. The spikes on the forearms can be created using cardboard and then taped or stitched onto the shin pads.
Remember that Batman only has a utility belt with various tools and self defense items when gathering materials for your Dark Knight Halloween costume. The Dark Knight never carries a standard issue gun or firearm. Instead he relies almost fully on his martial arts skills like karate, judo and aikido, all of which originated in Japan.
