Writer Agent

without comments

writer agent
I am a children’s book writer and I am trying to find an agent to represent me.?

The problem that I have been having is that many of the Publishers want you to have an agent to read your stories while the agents want you to be published to represent you.
How do I make this happen?

I too, am a Children’s author.

There are two ways that I know of to help you increase your chances….

1. Is to join in Writing Contests….listings for them can be found in popular writing mags, like-Writer’s Digest and the Writer…Poets and Writers has some good listings too…also check out these mags websites, they often have contest listings listed on the sites.

2. Is to purchase the Writer’s Market…. this has contest listings, agent listings, publishers listings all…most entries also have contact people and websites for themselves. These listing will sometimes tell you too if they are seeking and accepting unsolicited work from previously unpublished writers. The more expensive one with the CD is the best buy, as the Cd gives you access to Writer’s Market’s website too.

A agent once told me the best way into the published author realm is through contests.

I hope this gives you something to go on, and best of luck in your search….

Hello, Lied The Agent: And Other Bullshit You Hear as a Hollywood TV Writer

$34.95

As prevalent as TV is in our lives, most of us have no concept of what goes into creating a show, getting it on the air, and keeping it on. Perhaps we assume that the people in charge simply decide what amuses them at the moment, make those shows, stick them on, and wait to see if the public responds. Or maybe they just throw darts at a board. The truth, as with most things, is more complicated. In Hello, Lied the Agent, Ian Gurvitz has produced a corrosively funny insider’s look at what being a television writer is really all about. In his personal journal he details two years in the life of a Hollywood television writer-the dizzying ups downs, the rewrites, the executives, the pitch meetings, the table readings, the studios and networks and execs in a riveting expose of the business…

The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961), which helped to usher in a new level of verisimilitude in the medium. As the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics, it formed a cornerstone of the company’s 1960s rise from a small division of a publishing company to a pop-culture conglomerate. The title would go on to showcase the talents of comics creators such as Roy Thomas, John Byrne, Steve Englehart, Walt Simonson, John Buscema, George Perez and Tom DeFalco, and is one of several Marvel titles still in publication since the Silver Age of Comic Books. A Better Angel

A Better Angel

$18.07

The stories in A Better Angel describe the terrain of human suffering—illness, regret, mourning, sympathy—in the most unusual of ways. In “Stab,” a bereaved twin starts a friendship with a homicidal fifth grader in the hope that she can somehow lead him back to his dead brother. In “Why Antichrist?” a boy tries to contact the spirit of his dead father and finds himself talking to the Devil instead. In the remarkable title story, a ne’er do well pediatrician returns home to take care of his dying father, all the while under the scrutiny of an easily-disappointed heavenly agent. With Gob’s Grief and The Children’s Hospital, Chris Adrian announced himself as a writer of rare talent and originality. The stories in A Better Angel, some of which have appeared in The New Yorker, Tin House, and McSweeney’s, demonstrate more of his endless inventiveness and wit, and they confirm his growing reputation as a most exciting and unusual literary voice—of heartbreaking, magical, and darkly comic tales.

 A Gathering of Spies

A Gathering of Spies

$1.99

Every once in a while, a new thriller writer emerges with such an instant command of his craft that readers everywhere take notice. Such a one is John Altman, with A Gathering of Spies. In l943, America thought it had rounded up all the German spies on its soil. It was wrong. Now, Germany’s greatest weapon-a woman with special talents, both for tradecraft and for death-is headed home with critical information about the still-developing atomic bomb, and the Allies’ chief hope for stopping her is a British agent with agendas of his own. Originally recruited into MI5 to pose as a double agent, he’s been telling the Germans that he’d do anything to free his wife, a prisoner of a Polish concentration camp. This happens to be true. The question is: How much would he really do to set her free? Where are his loyalties exactly? As the two spies play cat-and-mouse games across three countries, the ambiguities deepen, each figure showing new sides, each action providing new twists, until at last both agents are swept into a series of climaxes as unpredictable as they are inevitable. This is suspense writing at its best-and the beginning of a brilliant new career. “If there are thriller writers better than this, I’d like to know who they are. John Altman is a major new talent on the scene.”-Jack Higgins

 About Face!

About Face!

$9.66

The Politically Correct Christian church of the 21st century is impotent as an agent of change in our highly secular society. Lack of Basic Foundational Teaching leaves us ill-equipped to share our faith. Spiritual Warfare is destroying our marriages, our families and our personal faith walks. New Age Influences are being added daily to the teachings in our houses of worship. The body of Christ has become virtually indistinguishable from Secular Society. God’s glory is missing from His churches. It is time for Change… change which brings us back to His Word, back to living a holy life as He commanded, and back to a place where we can be a positive influence in today’s immoral world. Do you want basic foundational truths? Are you willing to commit to chasing hard after Jesus? If you are, then an “about face” is required.Vicki Renee Bryant is a passionate Bible teacher, Christian speaker and writer for Jesus Christ. She has a consuming love for the Word of God and a passion for those who wear the name of Christ to have that same hunger. She believes if Christians studied and applied Biblical truths they would influence the world for the cause of Christ. About Face! contains a wealth of foundational Christian truths, plus a strategy plan for implementation. For Such a Time as This… was Vicki’s first published work. She and her husband Dan own His House, a Bible and gift store, in Owosso, Michigan.
